Inspired Jewellery: Marie

Inspired by Marie

This week's inspired jewellery is a brass wire pendant for a very dear friend. It is small in size to suit her conservative, professional style, but full of symbolism. The gold colour and intertwined wire represent our precious friendship and the rose design represents the beautiful flower she is.

Friday Mish Mash: Tumbler, Seeds, and a New Bracelet

I am sooo happy! My dad fixed my tumbler. It has been getting worse and hardly turning at all. Now it is working great! I really didn't want to have to buy a new one. Now, I'm back to having shiny jewellery!

My seeds arrived today! I am so looking forward to having a garden this year! I bought Heritage seeds so no GMO's.

Of course I had to test my tumbler to see how well it worked!

Here is a bangle I've been working on the last 2 days. I had to switch the bead but I found one I intended to use for a bracelet so it worked out well!

This copper turquoise necklace with amber accents was designed for a very good friend of mine. The materials and colours were inspired by Mexico and were chosen to compliment her red hair and beautiful tan.

Re-Igniting Your Creative Spark

Over the past year I've had many brainstorming sessions with many people on many topics. I love getting together with creative people and bouncing ideas off one another. I've seen many new projects come to light this way.

At times these brainstorming sessions also help get me out of that rut or funk where no ideas seem to be coming. In order for brainstorming to be successful, though, you have to be ready to take "The Leap".

The "Leap" is letting yourself follow your dream. A good way to start, is to think about this question:

"What is one thing I would do if I knew for a fact that I would not fail?" Let yourself dream. What would you really like to do (deep down inside)? Don't listen to those negative thoughts telling you you can't do it.

I used to listen to those thoughts until one day I woke up and asked myself, "Why CAN'T I do it?" Then I realized there was no reason why I couldn't do it and the only thing that was stopping me was me BELIEVING I couldn't do it. Believing those negative thoughts was stopping me from stepping out and trying.

Have I done that thing I really wanted to do? Not yet, but it is definitely in my plan and I am working towards it.

So what is on my list for ways to "Re-ignite Your Creative Spark"?

#1 - Figure out what your dream is
#2 - Let yourself dream
#3 - Don't listen to the negative thoughts of "you'll never be able to do that"
#4 - Spend time with some creative people
#5 - Take a break and treat yourself
#6 - Book yourself some "Do Not Disturb" time and relax and just let yourself think
#7 - Go out and try something new

What are some things YOU do to re-ignite your creative spark?

Oscars!!! Keyword: Dazzling!

The Oscars fashion certainly didn't disappoint! The trend in gowns on the red carpet was pale, elegant and flesh tones with lots of Sparkle! With some beautiful brilliantly-coloured gowns, like those worn by Jennifer Lawrence and Amy Adams, adding accents, the bouquet of gowns was another treat for the eyes this year.

Oscars 2014: Red Carpet Arrivals

The Oscars fashion jewellery and accessories were full of Sparkle, too. Many stars carried jewelled clutches and adorned themselves with earrings, rings and bangles, leaving their necklines bare. A few wore collar style necklaces and Jennifer Lawrence wore a shorter backward necklace with lots of you guessed it - sparkle.

Weekend Blessings!!

Last night we were blessed with company for the weekend, six people ranging in age from 60 something to 30 something to teenage and pre-teen (plus a cute toy pomeranian to boot).

While whipping up a super-fantastical breakfast this morning I had two young ladies graciously help me by licking the whip cream beaters and another lady graciously help me by making the toast.

Becca (on licking the beaters): Well I think I'm done. I can't find another drop!

Here's a picture of them "visiting" this morning while I was making breakfast.

Waffles for breakfast!!
