Great Day at Sparkle!

What a nice day! I really enjoyed Sparkle! yesterday. I had a great time with some wonderful jewellery artists, enjoyed their company and seeing their new work. We had lots of visitors, new and regular; even Melody Armstrong spent a good portion of the day with us. There was also a sitting area where guests relaxed with coffee and cookies. Had a really nice time!

As an added bonus, my lovely daughter helped me and she was awesome!!

Looking forward to next year!

Day Trip With My Daughter

My daughter and I both took some time out of our busy schedules to take a day Art Trip. We had a nice time (long drive), saw some wonderful art, nice scenery, took some photos, ate some junk food.... You know. The usual road trip stuff.

Here is a photo log:

And who wouldn't want to stop for Ice Cream at 10 am?

Awesome!!

Scenic drive. Mmmmm. End of a nice day!

Oops! And what is this? Apparently it is some type of pavement stripper road construction. Looked like some cross between a motor home, horse trailer, tractor, who knows what. You know. One of those thingy's. A big thingy!

Back to the Bench (and the Blog)...

With life getting extremely busy (and cluttered) I am finally on track and getting organized.

I've been spending some quality time in Bible study, devotions and prayers and creativity has been flowing. That includes creativity in organization, too! The clutter really affects focus, so now I am back on track.

I have some shows coming up both for Prairie Sky Creations and also for JewelleryWon and a new project in the works. One interesting thing that happened as I was getting organized for the Mid Summer's Art Festival a few weeks ago, I discovered I have a LOT of jewellery projects either started or ready to start, so in actuality a LOT of jewellery to work on. Awesome!!

Now after I've gotten my clutter organized, I'm all ready to get working on new pieces. I've just finished my summer enamelling class and here are some of my enamelled pieces:

Haven't Burned Myself Good in a Long Time...

True. I haven't had any torch accidents in awhile, whether it be sticking my thumb right in the flame or having those nasty little pieces of glass fly off and land in bad places. Monday, well, the wheel came loose and I and toppled off my wagon.

First I was pulling a piece of frit off the side of my bead using a pair of pliers and the stupid thing flew into my HAIR! Can you believe it? I couldn't. I've never had any glass fly into my hair before. So it's on the top of my head and I reach up to find it and try to brush it away. I can smell my hair burning, The little sucker is hot (of course) so I'm burning my fingers trying to get it off me, all the while keeping my bead warm in the flame using my other hand. (Can't give up that bead, now, can we?)

I must have brushed it away. The lady sitting next to me checked and couldn't see the glass on my head anymore. All night long I kept feeling where it landed. I was sure I could feel a hole in my hair. All is well though. No noticeable gaps!

So then, the next bead I was making my white rod shocks when I start to heat it up and a flake of it flies at me and hits me in the neck! Now that one stung for quite awhile. So I guess two hits in one night I should be good for awhile now, right?

Here is what I was working on:

Productivity, I Know You Are Here Somewhere!

Glass studio was productive:

At home I've been working on the other torch, preparing three entries for a show. The registration is due tomorrow. I just need to write up a statement about my work and I will be ready to send it in.

I've also been working on some copper pieces. Here's a little preview:

And then there is my weird one. This reminds me of the GMO's I've been seing in videos lately (Genetically Modified Organisms). It still needs work.

I Am So In AWE!!

This lady's work is AMAZING and SOOO     BEAUTIFUL!

Sorry the site is in Russian and I can't translate what the message is when I try to load some of the pictures on here. I assume it is probably something about copyright. I'm not able to load any here, but you really must see her work for yourself!

An Interesting TidBit I Found

I really love the Art Jewelry Elements blog. Here is something really cute!

It looks so easy! I really like the idea of making your own stamps out of porcelain!

A Little Bit of Old and a Little Bit of New....

It's the start (almost) of a new year and the start of some new beginnings. First I'll put last year to bed, though, with pics of my last creations of 2012. These are the pieces I made (last minute!) for special gifts for Christmas. I made the beads specifically for the gift but didn't design the necklace till last minute.

Now onto new beginnings! I've been busy recording last year's inventory, sales, and ALL of my new supplies. Then I priced and sorted my supplies and now I'm all ready and excited to start creating!

I've also given up my storage space and have been moving a lot of stuff back home, so that is another job to deal with in the next while: purging. It is not the easiest and definitely NOT my favourite. Oh well, I look forward to the day when it is finished.

On a much more pleasant note, I have so many other upcoming things I'm working on! I've managed to get a couple of my applications in already (early for once, yay!) and I am working on a really exciting show idea for JewelleryWon. I've been to a workshop on pricing your creations for sale and one on selling on-line. I'm also registered for a webinar this week on social media marketing. I am also pleased to now be a member of Handmade Saskatchewan and the Saskatchewan Craft Council.

On the colour creative side, I am back at lampwork again in a sculptural class this time. So far we've made frogs, eyes, nude statuettes and flowers. I will be doing Beads of Courage this weekend. Any suggestions for what to create?

Here are my January beads:
